DON'T MISS THE 2008 LEBANESE FESTIVAL

THE FOOD, FUN AND MUSIC YOU LOVED BEFORE AND SO MUCH MORE!

St. Elias Catholic Church, 4730 Cove Road, Roanoke

May 30: 12-8pm; May 31: noon-10pm; June 1: noon-8pm

The new tenth annual Lebanese festival will be held rain or shine at St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church.  Admission is free, with a moderate charge for food and games. A celebration of Lebanese culture, the festival features delicacies like tabbouli and spinach pies, stuffed grape leaves, falafel, various wraps, meats cooked on the grill and wonderful Lebanese pastries. Takeout orders will be available by phone at 562-0012 or by fax at 562-1300.

A Lebanese band from Ohio, “Al Layali,” will provide live music all three days. The youth of the parish will perform traditional Lebanese folk dances. There will be special treats for children, including a visit from the Cat in the Hat, a Moon Walk and rides on a special 4-car train, courtesy of the Knights of Columbus. A Silent Auction will feature baskets of goods from many of the valley’s most popular firms.  Also, for the first time, outside vendors will be on hand, one offering Lebanese food and goods.  Another non-profit organization will be raising funds for severely disabled children.

During tours of the church, visitors will have an opportunity to hear liturgical music that imparts richness and solemnity to the Maronite ritual, one of the oldest in the Catholic Church.

The Lebanese Festival -- it's a big community party, rain or shine, and everybody's invited! Admission is free, moderate charge for food and games. Call 562-0012 for more details.
